Advance Packaging Corporation is led by partners Carol Hoyt and Don Crossley. Sharing co-founders Dick Strauss and Franklin Gregory’s vision to build a progressive packaging leader, the ownership transition to Don Crossley and Carol Hoyt was completed in 1999. As equal partners and owners of Advance Packaging, their philosophies, industry knowledge, experience, and leadership provide an excellent complement of abilities. Carol’s manufacturing and operations experience and Don’s finance, marketing and customer service expertise mesh perfectly to implement the corporate mission and provide the vision and strategy for growth.

Ms. Hoyt has been with Advance for nearly 30 years. Prior to CEO, she was the company’s VP of Operations and VP of Human Resources. Before joining Advance, she held positions in personnel, purchasing and sales. She holds a degree from Grand Valley State University and the Seidman School of Business, Allendale, MI
Don Crossley

Mr. Crossley has 28 years of industry experience in managerial, operations and sales positions - including 21 years with Advance Packaging. He was V.P. and General Manager from 1986 – 1998. Prior to Advance, Crossley spent several years in managerial positions with Rock-Tenn Company. In addition to holding a B.S. Degree in Commerce from Washington & Lee University, he holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Middle-Tennessee State University.
Michael P. Sylvester
Vice President, Manufacturing [read bio]
Mr. Sylvester has over 40 years of engineering and operational experience, of which, the last 27 have been in the corrugated and packaging production industry. He is a member of the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, the Flexographic Technical Association and member of the Plant Managers Networking Group. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Detroit Institute of Technology.
David Oursler
Vice President, Sales [read bio]
Mr. Oursler has been with Advance since 2001. Prior to VP of Sales, he served as VP of Customer Service for both production facilities. His leadership experience in customer service with Advance equips David with an invaluable knowledge and understanding of our logistical processes from order specification, pricing, scheduling, production, and distribution. He has 35 years in the corrugated industry - where he has held management positions in material controls, operations, production and sales. Educational studies include Business Communications.
R. Scott Wilcox
Technical Services Manager [read bio]
Mr. Wilcox joined Advance in 1998. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Packaging. His 10 years of design experience include; corrugated packaging, graphics, kits, returnables, and ISTA testing. He is currently the technical services manager for the structural design lab and Advance’s ISTA laboratory manager.
Tim R. Anthony

Mr. Anthony has been with Advance since 2005 and carries 22 years of experience in operations and IT/Management. He holds a BS in Industrial Management and an MS in Strategic Planning from Central Michigan University. He also has Lean-manufacturing certification from the University of Michigan and a CPIM certification from the American Production and Inventory Control Society.
David L. Straten
Director of Graphic Packaging [read bio]
Prior to joining Advance, Mr. Straten held the position of Graphics Packaging Manager at Smurfit-Stone, Graphics Manager at Lewisburg Container and Packaging Graphics Designer for Anchor Hocking Corporation. His position at Advance focuses on pre-press and technical developments on high-end graphics packaging. He is currently serving on the Flexographic Technical Association Board of Directors, Vice-Chair Printers/Converters and the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association – a resourceful technical and educational society exclusively for the flexographic printing industry. Straten co-wrote the “Corrugated Print Guide” and has served as a judge, and chaired the FTA Excellence awards. He holds a BFA from the Ohio State University and has over 26 years experience in the corrugated printing industry.
