Advance Packaging Corporation Awarded 2007 Manufacturer of the Year Honors
Jackson, MI —The Jackson Area Manufacturer's Association (JAMA) named Advance Packaging Corporation the recipient of the 2007 Manufacturer of the Year Award-recognizing Advance-for leadership in successfully impacting operations within their organization, success in the manufacturing industry, and contributions and community involvement in the Jackson area. Bill Rayl, JAMA Executive Director, presented the award to Don Crossley and Carol Hoyt, Advance Packaging’s President and CEO, respectively, at JAMA's 71st Annual Dinner, held at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Michigan.
Advance Packaging’s selection was based on their innovative efforts to implement change, overcoming business challenges, grow their business and consequently continue their successful manufacturing history in the Jackson area.
In 2005, APC launched an initiative to transform the Jackson plant operations following a lean manufacturing model. With formal staff training through the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC) in the principles lean manufacturing, Advance Packaging reorganized production processes, streamlined workflow, educated and re-trained employees in new lean manufacturing processes, eliminated waste, and developed a disciplined, timely service and maintenance schedule for technology and equipment.
Receiving the award on behalf of Advance Packaging, Don Crossley said, “I want to also thank all the good customers and suppliers of Advance Packaging located in the Jackson area. We have been the beneficiaries of tremendous commercial support over our history in Jackson. We try very hard as a business to spend our dollars in the Jackson community wherever possible.”
JAMA is a not-for-profit organization of manufacturers and associate members that provides training, networking opportunities, legislative and media advocacy through apprenticeships, internships and open forums to promote solutions and promote prosperity of the manufacturing industry in the Jackson county and its surrounding areas.
