While Michigan’s Manufacturing Continues to Erode, Advance Packaging Renews Commitment to State, Region
Kentwood, MI— At a time when Michigan’s manufacturing base is eroding and companies are moving operations off shore, Kentwood-based Advance Packaging Corporation is expanding its operations and its commitment to Michigan. Its new facility is the largest manufacturing construction project in the region for 2006.
“We are making a major commitment to West Michigan. We are staying right here and investing in our community,” says Don Crossley, President of Advance Packaging Corporation. “We anticipate our new facility and enhanced capabilities will attract business to us and to Michigan, expanding our geographic spread regionally and nationally.”
The new facility, slated for completion in late 2006, will integrate and expand operations presently housed in two Grand Rapids facilities. It will also support the plant in Jackson, MI, which will continue to service Central and Eastern Michigan as well as Northern Ohio. The new facility is comprised of 425,000 square feet and located at 4059 40th St., directly south of the existing location of Advance Packaging Corporation.

The new facility will employ a full range of new state-of-the-art production technologies that will give the company a variety of new packaging styles. New technologies will offer sophisticated printing capabilities and automated converting equipment that will radically reduce set up times and increase run speeds. It will also give the company the ability to cost-effectively produce smaller quantity orders.
