ISTA test procedure 1A tests individually packaged products weighing 150 lbs. or less using shock and vibration. Test Procedure 1A is an integrity test for individually packaged products as prepared for shipment. Use ISTA test 1A to evaluate the design and integrity of one package versus another and for packaging design for non-unitized items shipped via small-parcel carriers, such as FedEx or UPS, or common carrier. The ISTA 1D testing sequence starts with compression conditioning testing, followed by vibration and two shock tests, including a rotational edge-drop test to test the integrity of individually packaged products. Use ISTA test 1D to evaluate one package design’s integrity versus another and packaging designs for non-unitized items shipped small parcel and by common carrier.

Unitized loads are one or more packaged products, typically on a skid or pallet, secured together or restrained for distribution as a single load. Unitized loads may be a stretch-wrapped pallet load of individually packaged products, a single non-packed machine, component, or durable-goods product banded to a pallet, or a pallet with a corrugated tray, tube, and cap, and other similar packaging. ISTA test procedure 3A is a general simulation performance test for individual packaged products shipped either air or ground through a parcel delivery carrier, such as FedEx and UPS. Advance Packaging conducts standard ISTA 3A testing for traditional fiberboard cartons.  Use ISTA test procedure 3A to evaluate the protective performance of packaged product when encountering typical stresses of handling and transportation through small parcel delivery systems and atmospheric conditions such as temperature and humidity. Advance Packaging offers ISTA 3A testing through its independent ISTA-certified test laboratory.

Unitized loads are one or more packaged products, typically on a skid or pallet, secured together or restrained for distribution as a single load. Unitized loads may be a stretched wrapped pallet load of individual packaged products, a single non-packed machine, component, or durable goods product banded to a pallet, and a pallet with a corrugated tray, tube, and a cap, and other similar packaging. Use ISTA test 3E to evaluate the protective performance of packaged products and load stability under the normal stresses encountered during handling and transportation and atmospheric conditions including temperature and humidity. Advance Packaging offers ISTA 3E testing through its independent ISTA-certified test laboratory.

ISTA 6H Testing Services
Sam's Club distribution system to final destination in the U.S.

ISTA test procedure 6H is a general simulation test for packaged products shipped through the Sam's Club distribution system to final destination in the U.S. It was developed from an extensive survey, observation, and field measurement program of the actual Sam's Club stores. Ocean containers, trucks, and fork lifts were instrumented for acceleration and other data. ISTA test procedure 6H is appropriate for four different types of packaged-products, designated Types A through D. Advance Packaging offers ISTA 6H testing through its independent ISTA-certified test laboratory for Type A only. Type A is an non-perishable, initially shipped palatalized (on standard or custom pallet)
